RE: Weekend Warrior, the good memories

I spent 3 years looking for the perfect RV. This is our first and we are so happy with it. It has provided the luxury of a beautiful home on wheels for my wife, yet the versatility of haulin' the toys for the boy's without any hassle. We have never had any warrantee issues and frankly, we have been extremely impressed with the fit, finish and overall quality. I have a 20 year background in remodeling and new home construction. I am VERY quality conscious and this coach has outstanding design and workmanship. We will always be Weekend Warrior fans. Thanks Mark!

RE: grill or no grill

I ordered our 5'er with one, then was afraid just like you of heat damage. So, I finally fired it up on the table top and absolutely no problem. It cooks very slow at low heat. Nothing like the grill at home with flames pouring out the sides! Allow extra cooking time than what you are used to on the home grill. And...boy howdy, are those burgers good!! We use it all the time now!

RE: I'm apprenhensive to even broach this subject

So...your asking what we think? I would rather be debt free and take a little extra time for set up and tear down than owe money. It's true (as you know from experience) that a 5'er is a LOT more work than a MH. I've always thought that the DW and I would go the route of a DP when we fully retire and are on our own. Right now, the enormous room in the 5'er is wonderful and works great for us with the four boys and all the toys. When it's just the two of us, a DP with a toad would allow a lot more freedom in traveling the country. So, without the money factor...I'd go the DP, just because it's a lot less work. (but man I'd miss the 48 footer!) Why don't you try the setup you have now for awhile and see how it goes? When you're full timing you don't have to rush around, get to the campground late and set up in the dark, and be hurried to get home before work on monday. So there are some of my thoughts...I won't make a decision for you, that belongs to the two of you. Happy trails!

RE: WW Repairs

emails and posts are so hard to read sometimes. I apologize for being a little crude. Sounds like you are headed down the path of fixing it and dealing with WW afterwards. I just thought that a lot of unneccessary damage had occured by leaving it out in the rain for three months just waiting. Maybe that wasn't the case at all? At any rate, hope you can get it fixed and that WW comes back strong and is able to make it right for you. I have had no problem with mine for a year of use so it just makes it hard to read all the posts of others who have. I am truly sorry you are having difficulties with your trailer and wish you the very best in it's resolve.

RE: Does your trailer weight restrict you?

The bigger you are and the heavier you weigh the more you have to research and choose your trips. We have not had a problem but for instance, I think it would be difficult for us to get into Yellowstone. But, we'll just stay close by and do the day trips in the crew cab. We enjoy the extra room and wouldn't do it any other way. You'll have to decide, but the length you're talking about shouldn't be a problem. The weight at 14,000lbs will tow with the 7.3PSD but I would want a few mod's on it. Hope it all works out for you. Sounds like a great deal!

RE: Portland, OR to Bend, OR

Thanks all,
I am located at Portland Fairview RV Park, right off 84. We were here last July and made res. for this year before I left. I really do not understand all these folks who have told me the weather up here is always lousy. It's 90 deg. outside just like last year.
Shhhhhhh.......that's a secret we don't let out too far from the NW.
Hee hee.

RE: WW Repairs

Posted By: SandollarChaser on 06/28/08 02:14pm
We have a new Weekend Warrior FS2300 that will be 1 year old in July 2008 and has been sitting on the authorized dealer's lot for over 3 months with a leaking roof.
Sitting on the lot for three month's with a leaking roof? People don't take responsibility for anything these days. When we were still shopping, we were in a brand new Raptor on a dealers lot and it had a leak in the bathroom ceiling. Does that mean that Keystone is a crummy company who doesn't build anything right and we should never recommend them to anyone? That seems to be the attitude of some of the WW owners. They almost WANT something to complain about so they create a situation to show how bad the company is. It's YOUR trailer, take responsibilityfor it. Roof maintenance every year is something WW can't warrantee. Do you clean the gutters on your house or sue the builder because they clogged up? I'm sorry, maybe I'm being unfair here....but on the lot for three months???? That just doesn't make sense to me. I take ownership of my 5'er, it has been a great one and there have been a few issues but I just deal with it. I don't know how this whole 'entitlement issue' has spred so far. When we were kids and fell out of a tree it was called an accident. Now it's called someone else's liability. I'm not jumping up and down screaming here, or wanting to be impolite, but come on folks....it didn't use to be this way. No wonder WW is having problems. I'm glad they are committed to survival and I am waving the banner cheering them on. In the mean time, fix the roof!

RE: 30 to 50 AMP Adapter

My coach is 30 AMP. I can run both my AC units off the generator, but I can only run 1 at a time if I'm plugged into a 30 AMP outlet.
It's hot as hell, and the park managers says she has a 30 to 50 AMP adapter that would let me run both my units at the same time off the 50 AMP service. Is this so, or will it set the coach on fire?
Yes, use the adapter. It will work. You don't want all the technical jargon as to why, do you? Your coach will be safer with this than if you are trying to run it on a 30 amp service that is laboring to keep up. I install 600 amp residential services and smaller, I am helping you, not looking to pump my self esteem. :) Make sure that other electrical appliances are to a minimum 'cause those two A/C units need about 30amp to start. Keep cool !

RE: F53 Blown Wheel Seal, What Else Should I Do?

Two things I can think of. Rearend Lubricant was not full and climbing up the shaft to the bearing and seal. That's probably not true since it was leaking. The smoking would infer that something was hot, maybe smoking only whe you apply brakes and get the leaking lube burnt off. At any rate, this is a simple fix and the Ford dealer should have no problem with repairing it. Maybe just a fluke that the seal didn't get put in straight and it rubbed and wore out. It happens. Hope all gets fixed up and you get back on the road with no problems. I wouldn't worry too much, this really is a simple mechanical repair. Best of luck to you!

RE: Bluetooth headset review

I have the Jawbone. Excellent! Cancels out ALL the background noise in your environment. My only complaint is that it needs an ear gel to fit tight in the canal. Otherwise in noisy environments it's a little hard to hear. I'll pick one of those up somewhere. I'm happy with my purchase.

RE: brake problem on 5th Wheel

Obviously they are dragging. Could be adjusted too tight, or voltage bleeding to the magnets undetected? What controller are you using? Do you have a voltage display showing 0 when you are running with no brakes applied?

RE: RV purchase

A visit is worth a thousand pictures. Get started, you have a lot of research to do. Go to the dealers and shows and shop shop shop. Right now you probably have no clue what you really want. That will come with sitting in different units and "feeling" what it's going to be like. Start by deciding what 'type' of RV works best for you. Pull trailer, fifth wheel, etc... Most of all have fun looking! Ask lots of questions. Soon it will all come to you and you will feel confident with your purchase. This forum can offer a lot of great advice if you ask pointed questions. You are doing it right by starting now for 2009. Took me two years to settle on ours and it was well worth it, I absolutely love it. Hope you have fun searching, I had a blast! Check back often! Let us know how it's going!

RE: Trailer Alignment ????

IF the axles could be adjusted or repositioned, it is a great idea to have them checked. Semi trailers need adjusting all the time from drivers curbing the trailer. It moves one side back and then it doglegs left or right. This is especially important when pulling doubles. They must be aligned to pull straight. IF your axles are not running perfectly straight with each other, then some of your tires are scrubbing the ground at freeway speeds causing overheating. Kaboom! Hmmmm. Anyway, this is much simpler than aligning a steer axle. Use a long straight edge and place along the edge of all the tires. They should touch equally at all points on both sides of the trailer. The front and rear of the straight edge should be the exact same distance away from the frame as well. It will require two people to hold and measure the points to the frame. If it's out, it may require some mechanical assistance to reposition them or a trip to a frame shop. They are very good at this. Just some info to pass along, something we deal with every day in the trucking industry. Hope it helps!

RE: Slowest RV Forum on the Iternet

What gives.:M
Well, they GIVE it for free, they GIVE access to excellent advice, they GIVE an excellent site that is professionally moderated and kept clean for all of us to enjoy, they GIVE access to anyone who follows the simple rules, and they GIVE the opportunity for people to voice their opinions, and they never ASK anything of us. Seems like a few slowdowns (which we all have encountered) is a small price to PAY for such a great website forum. Thanks RV.net!

RE: JT Digital Wireless Leveling

$189.64 here. It says it tells you in inches how much to raise/lower, so it seems that it would have to be programmable for the length of the trailer from where it is mounted to the leveling legs. Anyway, backing the 5'er into place and then knowing exactly how many inches of planking to lay would be so cool. Just pull straight out, lay the boards and back up. That would make my life a lot simpler when setting up. Hope to hear from a few more of you who have it...about ready to order one!
